Shoot Correction for Brushy Mountain

The Brushy Mountain Spring Open, which was previously scheduled for April 30th thru May 3rd, has been changed.  It will now be held April 23rd thru 26th, so that it does not conflict with the Masters.  Please make a note of the new dates.

President’s Message - 2015

Well skeet shooters, it is time to start thinking about the new season.  Many of you have been loading shells, while others have been wondering where you can get some powder.  I have talked to some shooters that have found powder in the last couple of weeks, so maybe it will be available soon.  We are faced with many challenges this year with the shortage of powder and shot.  I have talked to several shooters who say that they will reload .410 and 28, and shoot factory shells in the 20 and 12, as that will save the most on shells.  We have our schedule worked out and as usual it was a little give and take by many clubs to make it come together.  I would like to thank the club reps for working together to make this happen.

This year, Conservation Park (Richmond Gun Club) will have four large shoots:

     - May 8-10, Old Dominion/Pletcher Open

     - May 11-15, Armed Services Skeet Championships

     - June 18-21, Elite Arms/Kolar Open

     - August 12-16, Virginia State Skeet Championships.

All Virginia shooters are welcome to shoot in three of these.  Only the Armed Services shoot is restricted to military, retired military, and military veterans.  I hope that everyone has taken the referee test and will offer to ref at your local club.  This is still one of the major costs of putting on a shoot and all help is greatly appreciated.  Hope to see you at the shoots this year and hope that you all shoot well.

Charles Daniel, VSSA President
