State Shoot Report

State Shoot Report from Becky:

We ended up with 172 shooters (including "honorary Virginian" Dick Grinnell) shooting a total of 751 guns at the Virginia State Skeet Championships this year. The weather was beautiful, the scores high, and the food delicious and plentiful (thanks to Bill Chiswell & his hardy band of cooks). Thanks also to Kevin & Laura Key, co-managers of the Conservation Club of Virginia, for top notch facilities & targets. I am double checking shoot-off results and medal deliveries now. All results will soon be posted on the VSSA website. Thanks to Chief Referee Mike Ramsey for 3 years of excellent "chiefing" - I hope he enjoys his retirement! And thanks to awards volunteers Billy Thurmond  (for pick up & labeling) and Donalyn Parker, Darlene Parker, Kathie Schwartz, & Peggy Daniel (at the desk during the shoot).  And thanks, always, to my loyal "desk minions" Jackie Connors, Kristi Garstang, Jackie Brockman, and excellent new recruit Tonda Finney.

Next year's State Shoot (August 17-21, the 3rd weekend in August in 2016) will be held at Arrowhead Gun Club in Chase City, VA. Thanks to all of you who attended this year. Put the VA State shoot on your calendar now!

If you have never attended the World Shoot, please see the attachment (CLICK HERE). If you are eligible and can attend this year, please get the completed form to me by August 31 (print, fill out, scan and email will be quickest). I will announce the winner of the free entry September 1 (via email and the website).

State Shoot Weather Forecast

Just thought I would share the Charles City weather forecast for the state shoot.  Boy, won’t this be nice!

2015 State Shoot Weather

This will be my last post until after the state shoot, as I need time to get the RV ready and take care of those last minute chores before leaving the house.

Also, please remember to send me any photos that you’d like posted on the website and/or Facebook page.  Although I try to make my way around and get photos of everyone, I don’t always have a camera with me.  Ask your ref to take your squad photo before you shoot.  And don’t forget photos of any hats getting shot for first 100’s!

Everyone please have safe travels to the state shoot, and a safe return home. Best of luck to all shooters, I’ll see you in a few days…

-Lane Hartle

Reminder From Becky

Please remember to bring your NSSA average card with all of your averages UP TO DATE when you visit the registration desk at the state shoot next week.  Registration opens at 10am on Wednesday, August 12th.

We travel to many shoots during the competition season with a traveling machine shop. We should be able to handle almost any gunsmithing need while at these shoots.
