2020 State Shoot Wrap-Up

The State Shoot Committee wishes to thank all of you for attending the 82nd Virginia State Skeet Championships. We especially appreciate your support during what has been an unprecedented and difficult year. Despite all the challenges, we had 88 participants, 54 four-gun shooters, and a total of 320 guns shot at Arrowhead Gun Club on October 8-11.

Congratulations to our HOA and HAA Champion, John Snyder, and to our HOA Runner-Up, Lady HOA Champion, and Champion of Champions, Mattison Russell.

2020 State Shoot Results

Arrowhead-Gun-Club

Arrowhead Rod and Gun Club hosted 96 shooters for the 82nd Annual Virginia State Skeet Championships, which was held October 8-11, 2020. Everyone enjoyed the rare fall temperatures, since the state shoot has never been held so late in the season. Although a little rain dampened the weekend, an excellent time was had by all. Congratulations to our High Overall Champion, John Snyder. Winners list is posted below:

Passing of Paul Kvasnicka

It is with heavy hearts that Brushy Mountain Club shares the news of the passing of Paul Kvasnicka, Jr.. Paul was an active member and past president of Brushy Mountain; and former member of Halifax and Arrowhead. He was a part of the outstanding 5-Man Brushy Mountain Team with Katherine Adams, Monty Sprouse, Clarence Dawson and Richard Hawkins.

Paul served as pastor of Spout Spring Baptist Church for approximately 11 years. He was employed with the Virginia State Police from October 16, 1973 until July 1, 2016, when he retired as the Captain at Division III Headquarters in Appomattox. He also served as a Chaplain within the Virginia State Police.


Passing of Orell Lenhart

The officers and staff of the VSSA are very saddened to share the passing of Orell Lenhart. 

Lee Orell Lenhart, Sr., age 87, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Monday, October 12, 2020. He was born May 14, 1933 in Chase City, Virginia and was the son of the late Claude Lee Lenhart and the late Della Champion Lenhart.

He was a United States National Guard Veteran and a retired Building Inspector for Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Orell was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Chase City and a founding member of Arrowhead Gun Club. He was the past president for the Virginia Skeet Shooting Association and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery, 25619 Highway 49, Chase City, VA 23924.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Orell’s memory to Friendship United Methodist Church. Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home in Chase City, VA will be handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.newcomballgoodfh.com
