Important Message from State Shoot Committee

Important Notice

Dear Shooters,

Due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the State Shoot host club community, the VSSA Board of Directors and Arrowhead Gun Club have made the very difficult decision to reschedule the State Shoot that was planned to be held September 9-13 to October 8-11, 2020.

Our first priority is the health, well-being and safety of our members, their families, and guests. We know that rescheduling the shoot is a tremendous disappointment and we regret the stress and inconvenience many of you are now going through as you work through rescheduling hotels, managing vacation and work schedules, and the prospect of conflicts with the new dates.

Many of you have questions going forward. I hope the below information can help answer some of them.

     - The 12 gauge Preliminary Event previously scheduled for September 9 is cancelled. The shoot will begin on Thursday, October 8, with the same rotation schedule published in your State Shoot program booklet.

     - Your scheduled rotations and times for the events are still intact.

     - The complimentary world shoot entry for Virginia is being addressed with NSSA and an update will be posted as soon as possible.

     - If you need to cancel, please contact Tonda at or by phone at (434) 713-6394. There is NO PENALTY for withdrawals.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can answer questions or assist in any way. I can be reached at or by phone at (703) 946-7644.

We are looking forward to seeing you in October.

Chair, State Shoot Committee

Message from Hannah

Hannah Goddard would like to pass along the following update, which is also being sent to all shooters via email. Of special note, due to unforeseen circumstances, several ironman referees who were previously scheduled for the shoot are now unable to attend. We are in need of shooting referees for all rotations in every gauge. Please consider pulling one or more squads and help us keep the shoot running smoothly. If interested, contact Mark Parker via email at
